Menstrual Cycle Juice Packs
How it works: You will consume two juices each day with your first juice in the morning to break-fast and your second juice either late afternoon or evening. Stay away from processed and refined foods as this contributes to irregular menstrual cycles and symptoms.
Menstrual Phase
The menstrual phase, also known as menstruation or the menstrual period, is the first phase of the menstrual cycle for women. It marks the beginning of the cycle and lasts for an average of 3 to 7 days, although this can vary from person to person.
During the menstrual phase, the lining of the uterus, known as the endometrium, is shed. This is triggered by hormonal changes within the body. If conception does not occur during the previous cycle (luteal phase), the levels of estrogen and progesterone drop, leading to the breakdown and disintegration of the endometrial tissue. This leads to menstrual bleeding or (period).
What’s in our juices to help this phase:
- Iron: Menstrual bleeding leads to the loss of iron-rich blood. Adequate iron intake is crucial to replenish the lost iron and prevent anemia, which can cause fatigue and weakness.
- Calcium: Calcium is essential for maintaining strong bones and muscle function. During menstruation, some individuals may experience calcium loss, so it's important to ensure an adequate intake.
- Magnesium: Magnesium can help reduce menstrual cramps and support muscle relaxation. It also plays a role in maintaining overall hormonal balance.
- Zinc: Zinc is important for immune function and helps regulate hormone levels in the body, including those related to the menstrual cycle.
- Vitamin B6: Vitamin B6 is involved in various biochemical processes, including the synthesis of neurotransmitters that can help alleviate premenstrual symptoms like mood swings and irritability.

Follicular Phase
The follicular phase is the second phase of the menstrual cycle and is characterized by the development of follicles in the ovaries. It typically lasts for 10 to 14 days, but the duration can vary from person to person.
During this phase, the pituitary gland in the brain releases follicle-stimulating hormone called (FSH), which signals the ovaries to start preparing eggs for potential fertilization. Multiple follicles, each containing an immature egg, begin to grow and develop in the ovaries. Among these follicles, one dominant follicle will emerge and continue to grow while the others regress.
As the dominant follicle grows, it produces increasing amounts of estrogen, which is an essential key hormone during this phase. Estrogen helps thicken the uterine lining (endometrium) to prepare for potential embryo implantation.
As the follicular phase progresses, the rising levels of estrogen also triggers a feedback mechanism that causes a surge in the luteinizing hormone (LH) from the pituitary gland. This LH surge is a crucial event that leads to ovulation.
What’s in our juices to help this phase:
- Folate (Folic Acid): Folate is important for healthy cell division and DNA synthesis. Its crucial for early embryonic development if conception occurs during this phase.
- Vitamin B6: Vitamin B6 plays a role in this phase with hormonal regulation and helps alleviate premenstrual symptoms.
- Vitamin E: Vitamin E has antioxidant properties that support egg health and overall reproductive function.
- Iron: Adequate iron intake is important for supporting blood production and overall energy levels.
- Zinc: Zinc is involved in various enzymatic processes and plays a role in supporting reproductive health and hormone balance.
- Vitamin C: Vitamin C is an antioxidant that helps protect eggs from oxidative stress and improve overall fertility.
- Omega-3 Fatty Acids: Omega-3s have anti-inflammatory effects and support hormonal balance and egg structure.
- Magnesium: Magnesium helps reduce stress and promotes relaxation, which may have positive effects on hormonal health.
- Selenium: Selenium is an essential mineral that plays a role in supporting fertility and reproductive health.

Ovulation Phase
The ovulation phase is a crucial part of the menstrual cycle in females. It occurs in the middle of the cycle and lasts for about 12 to 24 hours. During this phase the pituitary gland releases a surge of luteinizing hormone (LH) due to increased estrogen levels. This surge triggers the release of a matured egg or (ovum) from one of the ovaries.
What’s in our juices to help with this phase:
Zinc: Supports healthy ovulation and progesterone production.

Luteal Phase
The luteal phase is the final stage of the menstrual cycle and occurs after ovulation. It typically lasts about 10 to 16 days, but the duration can vary from person to person. This phase is characterized by the transformation of the ruptured ovarian follicle, known as the corpus luteum, which plays a crucial role in preparing the body for potential pregnancy.
Progesterone is a key hormone during this phase and plays a vital role in preparing the uterine lining (endometrium) for potential embryo implantation. Progesterone helps thicken the uterine lining, making it a nurturing environment for a fertilized egg to implant and develop.
If fertilization occurs during the fertile window and a viable embryo implants in the prepared uterine lining, the corpus luteum continues to produce progesterone to support early pregnancy until the placenta takes over this role.
Progesterone works in conjunction with estrogen to regulate the menstrual cycle and maintain hormonal balance.
If pregnancy does not occur, the corpus luteum eventually regresses, leading to a drop in hormone levels, including progesterone. This drop triggers the shedding of the thickened uterine lining, resulting in menstruation, and the cycle repeats itself again.
What’s in our juices to help with this phase:
Vitamin B6: Vitamin B6 supports hormonal regulation especially progesterone and helps alleviate premenstrual symptoms, such as mood swings and breast tenderness.
Omega-3 Fatty Acids: Omega-3s have anti-inflammatory effects and support hormonal balances and overall well-being.
